New Brick & Stone

Custom homes, additions, exterior facades. Hand-laid by master masons — not piecework.

Tuckpointing

Historic homes in Highland and Forest Park. Lime mortar, color-matched, hand-tooled joints.

Chimneys

Full rebuilds, crown repairs, flue liner, cap and damper replacement. CSIA-trained sweeps on staff.

Retaining Walls

Engineered or dry-stack. Proper drainage, weep holes, and batter — not the leaning monstrosities you see in subdivisions.

Fireplaces

Indoor and outdoor masonry fireplaces. Firebrick and refractory mortar — not red brick on the inside.

Patios & Walks

Brick, flagstone, and bluestone. Mortared or sand-set. Thirty-year warranty on workmanship.

Our Story

Founded in 1998.

Cornerstone has been laying brick and stone in Birmingham since 1998. The owner trained in Italy in his early twenties and brought back techniques you don't see on a typical jobsite — proper batter on retaining walls, lime mortar that breathes, hand-tooled joints.

We do new brick on custom homes and additions, full chimney rebuilds, tuckpointing on historic Forest Park and Highland Park houses, retaining walls, fireplaces, brick patios, and stone veneer.

The work isn't fast. It isn't cheap. But the mortar joints we tooled in 2002 still look the way they looked the day we tooled them — and that's the only test that matters in this trade.
