Our Story

Founded in 2003.

Grainline has been laying floors in Birmingham since 2003. My grandfather started in the business in 1962 and my father took it over in 1984. I came on full-time in 1998 and bought it from him in 2009.

We do site-finished and prefinished hardwood, engineered, refinishing of original old-growth oak in the bungalows over in Forest Park, carpet, LVT, and the occasional tile job when we like the customer enough.

We measure twice. We acclimate the wood. We use the right moisture meter. And we don't apologize for taking longer than the cheap guys, because the cheap guys' floors don't last.
